Morning: The Unexpected Invitation
Freshly landed in Chiang Mai from the States, my feet were barely on the ground when an invitation arrived. An event partnered with our friends at Compassion International Foundation awaited. ECHO Asia Agriculture & Community Development were teaching 27 villages about growing their food! Was this reality or a jetlag-induced dream?
The Event: A Vision Come to Life
The event was like stepping into a wonderland. The air filled with joy and curiosity as children and teenagers from different villages presented what they'd learned about agriculture. I felt a tingling excitement; these scenes were a living embodiment of our mission.
I nudged Fai, my trusty translator, and we both marveled at the sight. Those seeds I had packed seemed to have found a greater destiny. It was all falling into place.
The Twist of Fate: Our Team's Arrival
Then came the magic moment: our teams from Autoom and Omkoi were there! A glance, a nudge, and there they were, our heroes from the villages we support, passionately sharing their knowledge.
We exchanged glances, waves, and knowing smiles. Our meeting about this very topic was just days away, but here it was, playing out before our eyes. Excitement, disbelief, joy – a whirlwind of emotions overtook me.
Break Time: A Whirlwind Conversation with Dr. Chi
During a short break, destiny played its hand again. We were introduced to Dr. Chi, a Ph.D. in Agriculture from Chiang Rai. Our conversation was electric, rapid-fire, as we discovered our alignment.
Words tumbled out, commitments were made, plans hatched, and visions crystallized. Dr. Chi's wisdom, Fai's incredible mannerisms, and our shared dream created an unbreakable bond. I could see our large-scale garden project taking shape, a beacon of hope for the children.
The Pause: Guiding the Path
We even navigated a crucial pause in the construction of the children's vegetable beds. Guided by Dr. Chi's insight, we were building a foundation, setting the stage for something extraordinary. It was a poignant moment, filled with relief, understanding, and unspoken connections.
